The Agency,
Alternative Platform for Art
The Agency foundation’s commitments are
towards working with art projects through initiation, support,
and realisation, and
also being instrumentational in the development of exhibitions,
seminars,
publications, and art projects of a qualitatively high nature.
The Foundation considers itself to be an alternative factor to
the normative discourse on art, wishing to place an emphasis
towards internationalisation, globalisation, and cultural diversity.
Furthermore, The Agency’s aim is to encourage an interest
towards socially engaged art.
In practice, The Agency functions as a think-tank, where ideas and
projects are exchanged and discussed. The members attend the foundation`s
meetings both regularly and voluntarily. The desire to provide new
ideas, projects and concepts which can influence development and
change contemporary art practice itself and the discourse which surrounds,
structures and tendencifies it, is the motivation behind the foundations
activities.
In similarity with most of the other organisations working in the
field of contemporary art, The Agency is dependant upon both public
funding and co-operation with other partners to enable realisation
of their projects.
The Agency is: Samir M’kadmi (artist), Samira Jamouchi (artist),
Roddy Bell (artist), Arild H.Eriksen (art historian), and Mona
abdel-Fadil (social scientist). |
